A review of this headset reveals something that makes the Jawbone ERA bluetooth headset stand out. It is the first one to be made with an accelerometer. What this means for you is that you can control functions of the headset by shaking it, or with tap commands.

It's interesting as this changes the way we use it. I'm sure this technology will be further developed and used in more headsets as time goes on.

Get The Jawbone ERA headset from Amazon and save 20%

Any Downsides?

Out of a large amount of Jawbone ERA reviews, a very small number of users report errors with the headset pairing with their phone properly, citing resets were necessary to make it work. Also the battery meter pairing will work with iPhones only, not Androids as of yet.

However, most people really like this headset, as it proves to be a very solid bluetooth headset. The Jawbone ERA is a very good looking product with new innovative technologies in it, making it stand out from Jawbone's entire line. If you can afford it, it will be worth your while.

The previous Plantronics PRO model was a great success. It had an award winning, professional design, great sound quality, noise cancelation, and the love of many consumers.

It was a no brainer for Plantronics to introduce the Voyager PRO+. It's basically a beefed up model of the last version. Notable differences are included A2DP functionality, 1 year free Vocalyst subscription, visual + audio notification.

Check out the Voyager PRO+ features:

A2DP Functionality
The PRO+ is A2DP enabled. This stands for "Advanced Audio Distribution Profile" which means you can use this to stream whatever type of audio you wish to your bluetooth headset. Stream music, podcasts, even GPS directions and more depending on your phone's capabilities. The audio volume will adjust itself according to ambient noise so you can hear well regardless of your surroundings.

One-Year Free Subscription to Vocalyst
Vocalyst is a subscription from Plantronics for users in the USA only. It gives you a set of voice and text services you can use with your headset. This service is for those who want to further their "hands-free" usage. Use simple voice commands to have things read to you through your headset such as emails, texts, even a Twitter feed. You can even use this to reply to text messages!

There are more things you can do with it like listen to news, weather, and even record voice notes and have the audio sent to your e-mail. The text feature works with BlackBerry and Android phones. And the email services work only with Gmail, AOL, and Yahoo, which most people will have. With a whole year of free service included, this is icing on the cake.

Noise Cancelation
Noise cancelation is a must. Plantronics brought out their AudioIQ2 and three-layer WindSmart to bring a great audio experience to this premium headset.

Multipoint Technology
Another great feature from Plantronics is Multipoint Technology. This headset is geared with the capability of connecting to two bluetooth devices at once and let you answer or use both with ease. No more having to re-pair your headsets just to use a different phone!

Voice + Visual Notifications
Another luxurious feature on the PRO+ is voice and visual notifications. You'll be notified of certain things like when your phone connects, low battery, remaining talk time, and pairing. These are a great time saver, especially remaining talk time. You will never run out of batteries mid call again.

To top that off, visual notifications lets you show the battery level of the headset on your iPhone.

Voyager PRO+ Battery Life
Talk time: 6 hours
Standby time: 120 hours

It has exceptional battery life, comparable to that of the previous model.

Voyager PRO+ Headset Specifications
Weight: 0.6oz
Style: Over the ear
Bluetooth 2.1 EDR

What Comes In The Box
- Voyager PRO+ Bluetooth Headset
- multiple ear gel sizes
- USB cable
- AC adapter

Warranty
Service & Support: 1 year

Any Negatives About This Headset?
Again, some people may not be into the design of this headset since it is a bit larger. However, it is designed for balanced weight distribution and great comfort. One customer has noted a bad "call" button on the headset, but it is likely just a defective headset that can be exchanged easily.

Conclusion
It's another very solid headset from Plantronics that users are just in love with. Users in search of the "perfect" bluetooth headset as well as the "best A2DP" headset available happily end up with the Voyager PRO+.

Don't want to spend too much on a bluetooth headset? You can easily find a cheap bluetooth headset that should handle your needs. Many of these are basic, but still provide good battery life, sound quality, and attractive design.

Some are purposely released with just the basics to meet those needs that are not too demanding. So you'll get basic bluetooth functions. Cheap headsets also arise when newer products get introduced and older ones reach the end of their lifecycle. Some older products are actually popular enough to be kept in production and hold their value for years.

Here are some of the cheapest bluetooth headsets available:

Motorola H680 Bluetooth Headset - $19.99

Another very affordable option from Motorola is the H680 headset, coming in under $20! This one is also an over the ear design, which is also happens to be very compact and stylish.

Bulk packaging is offered this product from some. This usually means you will get a brand new headset in a plastic bag, or plain cardboard box, but you'll save a few bucks. Every dollar counts!

You'll get good sound quality and battery life in a compact headset. It also includes a case that doubles as a charger. Also available in silver.

Rating: ★★★★☆

The H720 is a simply designed, over the ear style headset. It comes with noise reduction and echo cancellation.

Users really like this headset, saying the sound quality is indiscernible from calls without using a headset. Comes with 5 different ear bud shapes for custom comfort.

Another good headset with A2DP is the Jabra EXTREME bluetooth headset. This is actually a model that appears on our bluetooth headset reviews top list. This is a smaller alternative for headsets with A2DP.

Good for casual listening, since this is obviously a mono channel bluetooth headset. However, the sound quality and overall features for this headset are good.

This is a very sleek, minimalist bluetooth headset with A2DP embedded. It has features that go very will with iPhones as well.

The manufacturer labels up to 8 hours of talk time and 12 hours of standby time, however, users report this number to be inflated. However, sound quality is good and the A2DP will attract some users on this bluetooth headset as well.

What makes a good bluetooth headset though?

Sound Quality

Sound quality is the most important quality. If you can't hear or be heard, then the call you are making is pointless. Poor headsets may have static, poor microphones, speakers, or poor placement of those elements. If you've ever made a call and the person on the other end is complaining about not being able to hear you, it is usually a sign of a bad headset.

Comfort

For some, comfort tops this list as well. If you can't wear a headset without it hurting, then you won't want to use it at all. If it doesn't fit, you couldn't even use it if you wanted to. There are usually customization extras added to most bluetooth headsets to ensure that you will have a better experience though. Weight and design of the headset also factor into how comfortable it will be for you. Comfort is something you can sort of go by when taking other people's advice. However the shape of your ears and head can be pretty unique and may not match what others have experienced.

Noise Canceling

Another factor that makes sound quality good is physical and electronic enhancements. Physical enhancements help block out unwanted noise and wind with screens or filters on the headset. On the electronic level, there are noise canceling features. Noise canceling features are becoming pretty standard, although not every brand has a good noise canceling system as others. Test it out or read about other users' experiences before settling.

Battery Life

Others will prize the battery life of a headset. Most headsets come with pretty good batteries made to last for 5 or more hours of conversation without having to recharge. Some even come with recharging cases so you can extend that talk time during downtime. Some batteries do not last as long as the manufacturer says it does. Check with user reviews to make sure they are actually living up to advertisements.

And More?

There are other little things like ease of use, convenience of buttons, size of buttons, color and other features that will affect how users like a headset. The look or color may be a deal breaker for some people, and this is all left up to personal preferences.

A simple button is dedicated to power on and off the device, which also handles your calls. You get dedicated volume buttons which will also mute the headset when desired as well.

The capacity of the charger can extend the usage time of your headset by three times! A great talk time of about 5 hours is tripled by simply using this carrying case.

Main Features:
AudioIQ2 - Present in many of Plantronics devices, the AudioIQ2 is this company's noise canceling solution. It is a double mic that records your voice and also gets rid of background noise at the same time.

Every major brand claims they have the best noise canceling bluetooth headset. They're duking it out hard and we get to benefit. With Jawbone, the NoiseAssassin technology seems hit or miss. It seems to work for some, but others just despise it, favoring either BlueAnt or Plantronics.

No surprise, but most of these headsets appear on our list of best bluetooth headset reviews as well. Putting most other factors aside to favor noise canceling ability, here are my favorite noise canceling headsets.

1. Zelher P20 Noise-Canceling Bluetooth Headset

Rating: ★★★★★

Get the Zelher P20 from Amazon

Okay, it's not your standard, slick and stylish bluetooth headset. But if you want the top in noise-cancelation this is a very good choice. It's bulky appearance will probably leave this to most people who want to use it in an office, cubicle, or even a car.

In fact, this headset is loved by truck drivers, and they can confidently say that the noise cancelation feature on this headset is superb. So if your noise level even reaches such levels, this headset will cover you and then some.

Pair that with 20 hours of talk time, clear sound, and a working range of 30 feet and you have a very tough to beat headset.

2. Plantronics Voyager PRO Bluetooth Headset

Rating: ★★★★★

Some may shun it for its design, or slightly larger size, but if noise canceling is your main priority, don't overlook the Voyager PRO. This is easily one of the top headsets in terms of noise canceling abilities. One of the things that makes the noise canceling qualities on this headset is that it has an adjustable boom.

The dual mics on this work to pick up your voice only, canceling out the surrounding sound. It has a physical screen system built in to block out wind noise as well.

Even if your voice may be on the softer side, in a noise area, the features on this headset have you covered. If your voice is not so soft, and you don't need such a good wind and noise cancelation, check out the Plantronics Discovery 975.

Also, since its size is a bit larger, it probably isn't the best choice if you know you have really small ears. But for the majority of the population, it is so comfortable you will hardly remember it's on your ear and it is a great choice for noise canceling.

Plantronics Discovery 975

Rating: ★★★★★

Okay, this list is "Plantronics" heavy, but you know what, their technology works. This is another one of their headsets with the company's AudioIQ2 and WindSmart features that make call quality and noise reduction superb.

This one is actually an update to the Discovery 925, with improved sound quality and an improved charging/carrying case.

4. Blueant Q2 Bluetooth Headset

Rating: ★★★★★

One of the latest additions to BlueAnt's line is the Q2 headset. This is a top choice for noise canceling and call quality. It has an excellent speaker and microphone for this purpose. Users love it, and their callers only have good things to say about the sound quality.

If you're looking to buy something like a bluetooth earpiece it's a good idea to check out reviews available on them. This can save you a lot of trouble down the line and even save you money too.

There is a vast amount of information available online about bluetooth earpieces to begin with, so it is not that much work to find some reviews before spending your hard earned money on them.

Click Here To See The Best Bluetooth Headsets

We have compiled a list of our favorite bluetooth earpieces, so you can cut down time on your search. Our judging criteria is based on what we would have wanted in a bluetooth headset. This includes things like battery life, quality of construction, noise quality, volume quality, ease of use, and more attributes.

Sometimes the packaging from the manufacturer or the information given by the bluetooth manufacturer just doesn't cut it. Just because they flaunt some noise canceling technology doesn't really tell you if it's any good. Just because they have trademarked a name for one of their technologies doesn't meant it is any good either.

Companies are known to fluff up their figures as well such as with battery life or even the bluetooth connection range. Actual usage may not accurately reflect the way they have measured their statistics.

For this reason, it is a good idea to double check bluetooth headset reviews like ours and get an idea how customers love their headsets as well. This is why our reviews also incorporate how users have liked or disliked each headset we go over. However, for the most part, we don't even include poor bluetooth earpiece reviews to help save you time.

If you've even dipped your head into the bluetooth headset market, you've probably heard of the Voyager Pro. This Plantronics Voyager Pro review will go over the features this headset has to offer including what makes it pop or flop.

Plantronics is a heavy hitter in the headset market, and the Voyager Pro is one of their biggest successes. A quick look at this product shows that it is a great looking headset. It is also extremely popular with buyers whether it is for personal or business use.

It is also offered at sub $50 pricing as well--a competitive price for a premium product.

Let's take a look at the Voyager's features:

Noise Cancellation

This feature is becoming a standard on bluetooth headsets. Almost every headset has it. But they are not all made equally. For the Plantronics Voyager Pro, they've used dual noise canceling mics on an adjustable boom.

This means you can adjust it to where you voice will be, and all surrounding noise will be reduced. Sound levels will be adjusted as well to improve the quality of the call.

The headset will also automatically cancel up to 80dB of background noise to help make the call clearer.

Multipoint Technology

Actively connect to two devices at the same time. If you have a business phone and a personal phone, you just connect both to the headset. Whenever either phone rings, just hit the answer button and your headset will pick it up. This makes managing multiple devices so much easier!

This headset will also pair with your bluetooth enabled PC as well. Use it for Skype, video chats, or audio for gaming easily with your PC.

6 Hour Talk Time

Great battery life with a lithium ion polymer rechargeable battery. Tired of manufacturers listing bloated battery talk time? Users have confirmed the 6 hour talk time and love the battery life the Voyager Pro has.

Awards

A quick glance would already let you know how great this thing looks. However, Plantronics is quick to flaunt an award this headset has received: the 2010 iF Product Design Award. In short, it is given for overall design, quality, and safety. This is something very rare for a headset to receive, and is a good indicator of quality.

Specifically the award is for "excellence in design quality, workmanship, choice of materials, degree of innovation, environmental friendliness, functionality, ergonomics, visualization of use, safety, brand value, branding and universal design."

Headset Specifications

What Comes In The Box

- Plantronics Voyager PRO Bluetooth headset
- three gel eartips
- two foam eartip covers
- Wall/travel charger
- user manual

Any Negatives About This Headset?

Some users have noted that this headset was too large for small ears. So this is one thing you should look out for if your ears are a lot smaller than "average sized" ears. It can make it a bit uncomfortable or impossible to use. However, this is only reported by a very small number of customers, and most are not affected.

Conclusion

This headset has been met with very good responses. It comes with so many features to meet various demands. Most may not even be used. The best features on this are its great call quality and noise cancelation and its great battery life. Everything else is icing on the cake. If you're looking for a serious headset, and don't want to risk going with something else that may not be as solid in function and design, the Plantronics Voyager Pro is a good option.

Bluetooth is basically just a standard wireless method that is used for communication between devices. Although it is used in many aspects of technology, it is very commonly used for mobile phones since it fits well with the wireless freedom people are already looking for in phones.

A few years back, many cell phones used infrared to send and receive data to nearby devices, including other phones. This was one of the first networking protocols phones had. It required a clear line of sight to transmit data to and from the devices. Infrared was soon replaced by Bluetooth which had a better range, did not require a line of sight, and transmitted data a lot faster at 1 mega bit per second.

Bluetooth soon had a revision in the software for version 2.0. This tripled the data rate possible opening up new applications, while remaining backwards compatible with Bluetooth 1.0. Bluetooth was commonly used for networking between computers and between computers and input/output devices too. Increases in speeds meant faster transmission, less waiting for users, and increased possibilities.

Although the application of this technology is widely known for usage in cell phones, it is invisibly used in many aspects of your home you probably didn't know.

This technology was later introduced into widely popular gaming systems and their remote controllers. Users no longer had to be tied to the consoles with a cable. Handheld game systems use it to communicate with each other. Even toys integrate this software for wireless controls. Computer mice widely use this type of connection along with keyboards too. This helped reduce clutter at the computer desk. The connection of these peripherals require a bluetooth adapter, whether it is integrated into the system or not.

For the best bluetooth technology available see our bluetooth headset reviews.
